ETH wasn't Amused today... thats what I am been told by the origo team today.
ETH shut down the whole Origo site, because obviously many Porn site linked to my Project, obviously because of the included list of (outdated) domain entries.
Its pretty funny that more than half a year after anything was done to the Project, ETH needs to completly shut down the whole origo domain just because of some content which doesnt directly link anything on it. And it is there already for more than half a year.
Bad news: I had to move to a new server this weekend, all DNS entries should point to the new IP. Most data is already back where it was. Only a few data was lost. This website and email had priority, but most services will come up this week.
Good news, this server has better hardware, hope the site is serverd a bit faster. The software setup is also a bit better and cleaner.
I already posted the newest development on the Zensorchecker on its blog.
The next version of the Zensorchecker will be able to spider new url's which have not been leaked to the public. This version will make the leaking less important, since everybody can search for censored urls in the future. I am not sure yet about some design decisions and it might take some time till I release 0.7.
I started a new Project on origo, I call it ZensorChecker.
The basic idea was to have a simple tool for everyone to check if their own connection gets censored.
The Program checks the locally present DNS Server against the list of Censored Domains
Found a nice Blogentry which displays the current high CDS Spreads in the market. CDS stands for Credit Default Swap, its basically an insurance against the Default of a the issuer of a paper (i.e. the case the issuer doesn't pay back the debt). You can buy such insurance also for countries.
At the end of march the servers MySQL database crashed heavily which needed a complete restore of the whole database, the backup of the previous days were corrupted as well which lead to a restore of the database dating back to the begin of march.
While developing a Patch for the DCC support of SmartIrc4Net I rewrote the CTCP handling. Instead of a switch Statement I developed a Dictionary<string, ctcpDelegate> for the handling of the CTCP String. (i.e. I call the ctcp Handler after a Dictionary lookup of the CTCP String).
There are several Advantages to this:
A few days ago there has been posted the Danish Censorship list on Wikileaks. And I remembered that I once read that it was the danish police which delivered the first 1000 URLs the swiss KOBIK has banned (Heise original News). Therefore I checked the list of domain names against the Cablecom DNS Server to see if they still match in a big part.
My ut3 Global Player Stats Projects relies on the Stats aquired by GameSpy. It looks like the have changed their Authentication scheme recently and this resulted in a nonworking Stats Application.
I Updated the Code and fixed some minor Bugs to make it work again!
Please Notice: You need to use the UT3 Account now, not an Account from login.gamespy.com. I know it was confusing before and now it should be more logical!
Hope you enjoy the possibillities!
...even the very long and intersting ones.
I am home earlier than I have initially planned, the only country I really d'like to visit, but wasn't possible this time is Kazakhstan, but I hope I will do that some ohter time. When I think that I havent planned alot in advance, I could be pretty happy about the journey. There were some things which went not the way I have planned, for example I took the airplane more often than I wanted, which is one of the reasons why I was faster than initially expected.
