A few days ago there has been posted the Danish Censorship list on Wikileaks. And I remembered that I once read that it was the danish police which delivered the first 1000 URLs the swiss KOBIK has banned (Heise original News). Therefore I checked the list of domain names against the Cablecom DNS Server to see if they still match in a big part.
The List from Denmark is already 10months old, my research was done end of December. 10% of the Danish List got a hit in the cablecom DNS Server. Every DNS Entry I list here are linked to 212.142.48.154 (it took a while till I found the redirect) which hosts the KOBIK warning (see picture).
To circumvent this censorship you just need a DNS Server which is not censored, I suggest you use OpenDNS.
This list is only based on the danish list, no internal leaks. The list is not complete, it presents probably only a few percent of the complete list, but the data is directly from the DNS Servers and therfore up-to-date!
More lists like this:
- The finnish List ( checked for legality )
- Wikileaks of the Danish List
- Similarly sampled Swedish List
The not complete Swiss Censorshiplist based on the Danish One:
(every site listed here was banned on Dec. 27 2008 on the Cablecom DNS Servers. I don't know what is behind this links, however the Discussion on Wikileak suggests that most of it is NOT childporn and what the Kobik is doing is pure Censorship which is definitly unconstitutional. [Art.17.2 Swiss Constitution: Zensur ist verboten (Censorship is forbidden)])
UPDATE
If your DNS Queries get transparently filtered even when using OpenDNS or similar, you have the option to use Tor / Privoxy as a Socks5a Proxy which will also Redirect DNS Queries through Tor. (Don't use Exit nodes in Switzerland/Denmark/Finland or Sweden!)
